What is primary research?
Primary research is defined as a methodology used by researchers to collect data directly, rather than depending on data collected from previously done research. Technically, they “own” the data. Primary research is solely carried out to address a certain problem, which requires in-depth analysis. Businesses or organizations can themselves conduct primary research or can employ a third party to conduct research on their behalf. One major advantage of primary research is, this type of research is “pinpointed”, research is carried around only a specific issue or problem and all the focus is directed to obtain related solutions.
I asked various different question's to do with Netflix's audience. I wanted to know what kind of people were using/watching Netflix. I asked different types of questions like open/closed, multipul choice, single choice and ranking. In this questionare, I hope to find out what kind of people use/watch Netflix. I hoped to find out how old they are, what their favourite genre of film/Tv they like and what thier favourite film is. I sent my survey to the people in my class, my friends and my different subject teachers so I could get as much information as I could. This information will help me further down the line.
Results:
In this question, I asked everybody how old everyone is. This information is useful to me because it lets me know how old the poeple are who I sent it to. Its useful to know what bbfc rating I should be making my final project. This tells me to make the bbfc rating a 15 because 55% of the votes show that a lot of these people are under 18. I sent it to people who are in my age range so I would have a more responses.
For this question, I asked everyone what their favourite film genre is. The results show a diverse range in answers. As you can see, out of the 11 responses I had the highest results were horror, thriller, true crime and other. With other people choosing romance, comedy and rom-com, whilst nobody choosing the fantasy genre. This information is useful because it lets me know what genre of film I should be creating.
From the information above, I asked everybody what their gender is. 73% of the answers we male and the other 23% are females. This infromation is useful to me because it lets me what part of my target audeince and wether I should be releasing films for males or female. In this case, I would be making more content for males as that is what most of these responses are.
From this information, I asked everyobdy what type of things they watch on netflix. They had a choice of TV series, films and documentary. As you can see from above, 64% of people said the enjoy watching Tv shows the most. 27% of people enjoy watching films whilst 9% of people siad they enjoy watching documentaries.
Frome this information, I get to learn what everybody's favourite films are. This is useful to me because it lets me know what films people are willing to watch in their spare time and personally enjoy.
