What have you done to prepare for the shoot?
- To prepare for the filming days, each person in our group has taken up a few jobs to do. My jobs was to create the synopsis about the case. I wrote this because i origanally came up with it and I knew the case pretty well. After I had finished the synopsis, I then started to create a front page article for a newspaper. It was all going well until I had some issues in creating as I lost the work I had done so I swithced to a magazine article which is more simple and eaiser to create. This was quicker to make in the time we had before filming.
What are your responsibilties on the day of the shoot?
- For the days we are filming, I have been choosen to be the director/producer and camera operator because on previous projects we have done as a group, I led the group to have most shots finished on the first filming day thst when it came to the second filming day, we could film what was left and re-film anything we needed to. I also knew how to work the camera so I filmed a lot of the shots from one angle with someone else filming from another angle.
How are you going to fulfil this role?
- I am going to use my organizational skills and take charge whilst filming. This went well with the last film project we did as a group. I stepped in as the role of the director and I am the most confident. Im going to build on the expirence from last time as I will be using more camera angles and shot types. In the post-preduction stage, I will also be an editor and to fulfil this, I will not repeat clips over and over again as it doesn't look good and can get quite boring to watch. I will add music and voiceovers as this is one of the codes/conventions of a documentary.
Producer
- Producers are often the first to get involved as they spot the creative opportunity and commercial viability of a production. They will come up with story ideas and hire writers or choose and secure rights to scripts. Producers will work with creative ideas from the director and approve production costs. They will approve locations for filming and hire a team for the production, delegating certain responsibilities to a line producer. They have ultimate legal responsibilities for the health and safety of the crew on set and delivery of a completed film at the end of the production process.
Director
- Directors are the creative leads of the film or Tv show. They hold the creative vision throughout the whole process from pre-production to the very end. They are employed by producers who is incharge of the production. Directors will start with a script and will work with the screenwirter and sometimes the script editing team. it is their job to work with the producers and casting directors to select the actors and the director of photography to develop the filming style, including notes about camera shots and script changes.
Camera Operator
- Camera Operators are responsible for recording all of the scenes. When shooting on location, they might be the only camera operator working in all kinds of weather conditions. They're responsible for taking care of the kit, wherever they are shooting or taking care of their own equipment. They are often skilled at lighting and are sometimes known as the lighting operator. On single camera shoots, they can sometimes be responsible for both the lighting and the sound. On large shows shot at various locations by a number of different camera operators, one very experienced senior camera operator is responsible for establishing the shooting style for all the camera operators to follow.
Editor
- In pre-production, editors work closely with the director to decide how to make the most of the script. Once filming starts, they look at the rushes each day, checking technical standards and the emerging sense of story and performance and editing it into a series of scenes. During post-production, the editor and director will work closely to refine the assembly edit into a director’s cut, which must be approved by producers, until they achieve the final cut. After that, the music and sound are added to the mix, a process that editors will oversee.
